This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal data when you use our website at https://kwarigo.com, customer mobile app, KwariGO Vendor mobile app, vendor storefronts, and marketplace services (together, the "Platform").
This Policy applies to customers who shop on KwariGo, vendors who sell through KwariGo, and visitors who browse our website or storefronts.
We process personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) where applicable, and other relevant Nigerian laws.

3. Personal data we collect
The data we collect depends on whether you are a customer, a vendor, or a website visitor. We collect only what is reasonably necessary for the services you use.
Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:
- Identity and contact data: full name, email address, phone number, delivery or business address, state, and gender where you provide it
- Account and profile data: login credentials, profile photo, store name, store description, social handles, and vendor business details
- Verification data (vendors): government ID photos, CAC registration details and documents, and payout bank account name, bank name, and account number
- User-generated content: product photos, descriptions, listings, store branding, customer product reviews (including optional review photos), and support chat messages
- Transaction and order data: order history, sales records, refund requests, payment status, delivery details, and wallet or payout metadata
- Payment metadata: transaction references and amounts processed through Paystack or bank transfer. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers
- Technical and device data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, browser type, push notification tokens, and server logs
- Communications and preferences: messages with support, dispute records, and marketing preferences where applicable
4. Mobile apps & device permissions
KwariGo offers mobile apps for customers and for approved vendors. When you use our apps, we may request device permissions so specific features can work:
- Photo library and camera (vendor app): to upload product images, store logos, banners, and verification documents such as ID or CAC certificates
- Push notifications (customer and vendor apps): to send order updates, account alerts, and support messages. You can disable notifications in your device settings
- Network access: all apps require an internet connection to sign in and sync data with our servers
5. How we collect data
Directly from you when you register, sign in, checkout, create or manage a store, upload listings, contact support, or subscribe to communications.
Automatically when you use the Platform, including through cookies on our website, server logs, and technical data sent by your browser or mobile app.
From payment partners such as Paystack, delivery and logistics partners, and other service providers that help us operate the Platform.
From other users where relevant to the service, such as customer reviews displayed to vendors about their products.
6. Why we use your data
We use personal data to operate the Platform and provide the features you request. We do not use your personal data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal data.
We use personal data to:
- Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide app functionality
- Process orders, payments, refunds, vendor payouts, and platform commissions
- Display and moderate product listings, reviews, and storefront content
- Verify vendors, prevent fraud, and maintain platform security
- Provide customer and vendor support, including live chat
- Send service and transactional messages (for example order updates and payment alerts)
- Send marketing communications only where permitted by law and your preferences
- Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
- Improve reliability, performance, and security of the Platform

We process personal data based on one or more of the following: your consent, performance of a contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating a secure and effective marketplace, balanced against your rights.

We require service providers to handle data securely and only for authorised purposes. We do not sell your personal data and we do not share personal data with third parties for their independent advertising purposes.
We do not link your personal data with third-party datasets for cross-app advertising or tracking.
- Vendors and customers, where necessary to fulfil orders (for example delivery name, phone, and address)
- Payment processors including Paystack, to process checkout and wallet top-ups
- Cloud hosting, email, SMS, and infrastructure providers that help us run the Platform
- Push notification services (including Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver app notifications to your device
- Delivery and logistics partners, professional advisers, and regulators where required by law
9. Marketing communications
We may send promotional emails, SMS, or messages about KwariGo products, offers, and vendor updates where permitted by law.
Operational messages — such as order confirmations, payment alerts, security notices, and support replies — are not marketing and may still be sent even if you opt out of promotions.
You may opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email, your account settings where available, or by emailing privacy@kwarigo.com.
10. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including legal, accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution requirements.
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it using reasonable technical and organisational measures.
11. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for data transmitted between our apps and servers.
No online system is completely secure. Please use strong passwords, keep your login details confidential, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

If you use the KwariGO Vendor app or customer app, you can also update much of your profile information directly in the app under Account or Profile settings.
You may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.

13. Cookies & website analytics
Our website and storefronts may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure traffic, and improve the Platform.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect website functionality.
Our mobile apps do not use browser cookies; they use secure API connections and, where enabled, push notification tokens as described above.
14. Children & minimum age
KwariGo is not directed at children under 18. You must be at least 18 years old to create a vendor account or sell on the Platform.
The KwariGO Vendor app is a business tool intended for approved store owners and is not designed for use by children.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 without appropriate parental or guardian consent. Contact privacy@kwarigo.com if you believe we have collected a child's data in error.
15. International transfers
Your data may be processed in Nigeria or in other countries where our service providers operate (for example cloud or notification infrastructure). Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted at https://kwarigo.com/privacy with an updated effective date.
Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-app notice where appropriate. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
